Rocky Mtn National Park

I spent the last week in June and the first few days of July crossing the country west to east.  This picture was taken on a late afternoon in Rocky Mtn. National Park.  It looks like the place was deserted but actually hundreds or maybe thousands of people were lining the shore and hiking the trails.  I used a -1.0 ev correction to keep the bright clouds and sky from fooling the meter.  If the photo looks too dark in the shadows you probably need to turn up the brightness setting on your monitor.  As always for a larger view click on the picture.

Arches National Park

Spent most of the day today touring Arches National Park.  We're having a great time heading toward Atlanta GA seeing the sights along the way. . .

The shot below is Delicate Arch from about 2 miles away.  That's as close as I got to it this day.  Maybe someday I'll walk to it.  It would have to be a cooler time of the year.  Click on the picture for a better view.

Beet and Tomatos

The Beet and Tomatoes are progressing nicely. . .  I had some of the beet greens in my lunch salad today.  Click on the picture for a larger view.

The garden progresses. . .

Here's a couple of pictures of the vegetable/herb garden my grandson Adam prepared and planted last April.  All's I have to do is water it and harvest the crops.

The first shot is left to right, beets, big tomato, patio tomatoes, and cilantro.

This second shot is a new stand-alone tomato plant in the foreground then oregano, peppers, and the beet greens.  The beet greens look pretty good, maybe I'll have some in my salad tonight.

The New Tomato Plant

I took advantage of a two-day sale at Armstrong's Nurseries and bought this producing tomato plant for my patio garden.  So far after a couple of days it seems to be doing well.  What might look like out-of-control nut grass in the background is actually a mitigation area to satisfy local environmental regulations for open space.

Dinner Salad

I promise this is the last post about my meals for awhile.  I've been on a low carbohydrate eating regimen since the first of April and I'm still getting used to the meals.  I've lost over 15 pounds so far and I've not been hungry.  I do miss Snickers Bars©, and chocolate chip ice cream and every once in awhile get a craving.  But so far I've been able to resist.  Here is what I ate last night along with a couple pieces of skinless, boneless, grilled chicken thighs.  It was delicious.  The salad is made of lettuce, chicken, avocado, tomato, a little cheddar cheese, and 2 Tbls. of Ken's Steak House Blue Cheese Dressing.

Today's Lunch: BLT with Flatbread

In this case the Lettuce was substituted with Avocado.  Much better.  I added a few chileanos for some zest.

RATTLESNAKE!!!

First one of the season.  It's the perfect time of the year for spotting them.  Cool nights and mornings so they seek the warmth of the concrete patios and parking areas.  This one is hole up in a drain pipe because a neighbor squirted the hose at it.
