TENTH Birthday Party!

My Grandsons Mom and Dad threw a SURPRISE TENTH BIRTHDAY PARTY for him. As you can tell from the picture he was indeed surprised. His Mom baked from scratch a very scrumptious carrot cake that was a big hit with everyone. His Dad smoked some delicious baby back ribs. They were mouth-watering good. As I told him the best ribs I've ever eaten. They gave me some to take home and I ate them the night of the day I got home. They were still delicious.

( Inspired by those fabulous ribs I bought some meat labeled "Tri-Tip-Strips" at my local totally-remodeled Ralph's. The day I cooked them I found some 2004 dry-rub marinade to cover them with and I soaked a couple of cups of hickory chips in some water. About half an hour after starting the briquet's I threw the water soaked chips on them, then put the grill on and laid the freshly rubbed strips on the heat. I had some second thoughts about using the 3 year old dry rub marinade but it tasted a lot better than it smelled. But after about 50 minutes of cooking/smoking I took the strips off the grill, sliced them thin and ate them. They were delicious! Not as good as Dave's babyback ribs but pretty darn close.)

Fun Fishing Trip in the Sierras

Today we went to Mammoth Pool Reservoir for some fishing, eating lunch, sight-seeing, and relaxing. On the way home we got to stop by the Geographic Center Of California near North Fork, CA. It was a very nice trip and I enjoyed the whole day. Thanks Jack, Julie, Emily, and Madelyn for letting me tag along!

On my trip to Show Low, and Mesa, AZ I happened upon this little gold hummingbird. From what I can tell it is either a Allen's or Rufous species of Hummingbird. Which do you think it is? Click Here for more information about hummingbird species.

A Pleasant Afternoon At The Beach

Today my favorite granddaughters and their parents came down for a visit. We went to the marina for lunch then to the beach for some tidepool exploring, boogie boarding, and playing in the surf. A good time to be at the beach. Both of my young grand-daughters just love to play with sea anemones. We counted their fingers before we left, all were present. ;-)

HardDrive Near Miss!

I ran across The Chief in Scottsdale, AZ. There was a comfortable bench not too far from where this was taken. Late January, Early February is a very nice time to be in Arizona.


Wild Animal Park in Escondido is where I found fuzzy and the Cheetah. The Duck-Like bird lives in Fresno.


Saturday night my main Hard Disk became corrupted and I wasn't able to login to the computer. Sunday morning I installed another copy of Windows XP in another directory then spent the last 2 days culling out some unwanted stuff and re-installing the programs to work with the new installation of Windoze. The hardest part was trying to remember all of my passwords and finding the key files for the software. On the plus side the computer runs a lot faster now and I found some old pictures that I'd taken years ago and forgotten about. I'm just glad it didn't happen to my auxiliary drive where my thousands of pictures are stored. Thankfully, they are backed up.

Fresno/Clovis Visit

Another trip to Fresno/Clovis to spend quality time with my children and grand children. I had a splendid time. Thank you all for the wonderful hospitality, and for being perfect hosts. We observed a Taekwando session, spent the morning at the Fresno Zoo. Collected toads, played in the pool to keep cool and celebrated an early Father's Day. I also got to watch my grand daughters take their weekly swimming lesson. A very nice time indeed!

Memorial Day Holiday 2007

My Beautiful GrandDaughters came by for a visit today. We spent some time at the local park. They love to run free and play. It's one of their favorite things to do and it shows in their faces. I had a great time too!
