Warm Summer-Like Night

Tuesday night was warm and and with a mid-summer temperature and blossom-scented fragrances.

Spring is in sight

Mourning Doves are starting to hang out in the backyard about sundown.  A sure sign that Spring is just around the corner.

The clock lost an hour last night and right on cue we've been served up a glorious day here in the beautiful part of California.

Bixby Creek Bridge

Located on scenic California Highway 1 13.3 miles South of Carmel, Bixby Creek Bridge was one of the largest single-arch concrete bridges in the world when it was completed in 1932.  It is 714 feet long and has a main span of 320 feet. 300,000 feet of timber, excavation of 4,700 cubic yards of earth and rock and 45,000 sacks of cement transported from San Andreas and Davenport (near Santa Cruz) were part of the equation for solid and long-lasting construction.

Grandpa Jones

This gentleman is my great great Grandpa Jones.  Last month would have been his 175th birthday.  He died at the ripe old age of 86 in 1921.  He is buried in the Cone Cemetery in Cone, TX.

Lizard in the kitchen. . .

Look who showed up in my kitchen today.  It's about 2-3 inches long with more than half of that tail.  I put it in a jar to photograph.  I'm going to release it this evening in the back yard.  Maybe it'll keep the place bug-free for awhile, if he can avoid the neighborhood cats.

Visit To Clovis

Valentines Day, Granddaughters 7th Birthday, Spring Approaching. . .  Contrary to what the groundhog says it looks like winter is just about over in Clovis/Fresno.  I had a wonderful weekend celebrating with my children and grandchildren.

Road Warriors

Spiro and Phoebe my long-time friends from SoCal/NoIda are in the OC for a few days and I paid them a visit.  We talked for hours catching up on everything before venturing out in the rain to brave South Coast Plaza.  We had a great early dinner at Wahoo's Fish Taco.  It was very nice to see them and their beautiful Tiffin Allegro Bay motorhome.  They are the perfect hosts even when they're on the road.

Rocket Launch

This evening around sunset we were treated to a contrail from a rocket launced at Vandenberg Air Force Base up the coast and west of my location.  I heard later that it was a missile test and it failed.
